In January 2007 PLC installed a brand new spot UV line & in July installed a second new line from the same manufacturer.
The installations have gone extremely well and at the time of writing the company is wondering how it coped without two high-speed lines.
PLC has invested in its people and now operate these two new lines with highly-skilled screen printers.
Along with the new presses PLC have installed new pre-press screen preparation equipment. This too has helped with the speed of processing jobs.
PLC has proven it can grow the demand for spot UV with hi tech gear that offers tight registration and amazing job turnaround.
"It is nothing to put through 50,000 sheets a day when we have to." PLC's John Jenkins says.
PLC has reconditioned part of its BOBST diecutter and can offer a full service in diecutting, creasing and now embossing.
Lamination in matt & gloss continues to show good demand. There is nothing better than a spot UV job with matt lamination down first.
Specialty laminations such as silver metallised polyester to board that is then UV offset printed and made into cartons is popular and a brilliant way to gain that extra look and presentation on a carton. Easiyo Yoghurt, Jim Beam & Coke, Rice Bran Oil cartons & sleeves are good examples.
Window lamination of sandwich cartons continues as a good application of this laminate

GLC lost its long term staff member Fiona to the other side of the ditch for a life style change. Apparently she thought the weather would be better!!! and were fortunate to be able to welcome Raewyn into the role, which has been a positive move because she already has a good knowledge of the industry.
Moving to the larger premises in Piermark Drive, will give GLC the options of moving into other specialised areas of coatings and the company is looking forward to the challenge that will bring.
