The roadshow attracted a steady stream of visitors interested in both the Direct Imaging press and CTP.
Printing Supplies and Machinery's Rhys Daube says that the point of the exercise was to bring the new technology to New Zealanders so they could see just how effective it was, and that Printing Supplies has highly trained people to back it up.
The company has had two engineers in the United States recently for training with Presstek, and they will be returning for further training in the new year.
Part of the appeal of the Presstek equipment is its simplicity, Daube says: "You don't have to be an expert to run one of these machines.
The new Vector TX52 CTP has already been installed at two New Zealand sites, and Printing Supplies sold three further units during the roadshow. One of the companies which has already installed the machine has seen a 20 per cent increase in productivity since the installation.
The Presstek 52 DI was the star of the show. Daube says that it provides a cost-effective option from 400 sheets up to around 15,000 sheets. So it is able to do a lot of the jobs that were traditionally the domain of digital, but print them offset, without the need for click charges or maintenance contracts. In addition, it can print on just about any stock including Tyvek and acetates with out any special preperation.Because the Presstek DI 52 Is waterless sheets can be handled quicker than traditional offset making backup very quick.
At the conclusion of the roadshow, Daube said that the event had been successful for the company, despite the challenges of transporting sophisticated printing equipment around the country and operating it in sometimes difficult circumstances.
"I'm really proud of my team. They have been under pressure to make this roadshow work over the past three weeks. Conditions have not always been ideal and they have worked late hours to make it happen. They've done a great job."
